Large coffee, double cream, please

My local McDonald’s has THE best coffee around. Truly. So, not being one to pass up the best, every single weekday morning I drive through and request a large coffee with double cream. I do it so automatically that sometimes I find myself turning into their driveway when I was actually planning to go to Walgreen’s. Which is in the totally opposite direction.

So can my McDonald’s coffee jones be considered a cherished ritual or just another really bad habit?

My list of justifications for keeping it:

- It is only one single dollar
- I have a long ride to work and I NEED COFFEE
- I love their lids (!)
- It’s so much hotter than I can make it at home
- I hate schlepping a cup from home
- It is only 39 calories, 3 grams of fat and 1 gram of protein for the double shot
- They put the cream in FOR ME

My list of reasons for giving it up:

- Ummm, can’t think of a single one.

At one point I thought it might be this daily coffee grind (hee hee, I made a pun) that was hindering my weight loss progress. I diligently researched the calories involved (and by “diligently” I mean I plugged it into Sparkpeople). Upon careful examination of the data, I determined that it was more likely the 4 pieces of pizza in one sitting that was porking on the poundage.

Since, in my mind, the coffee can in no way be blamed for my current weight issues, I’ve decided this is one thing I’m NOT giving up.

So there.

Totally agree McDonalds has awesome coffee. I read that one of coffee suppliers was the Paul Newman brand -- so now I buy that for home, and yes it's as good. Though McD's has the edge in making it hotter than I can.
